South Sudan is behaving
like a 50yrs old man
By john Blanshe Musinguzi
When Jesus was asked who is the greatest in the
kingdom of God. He simply called a child made him stand in front and he said “I
assure you, unless that you change and behave like children, you will never
enter the kingdom of God. The greatest in the kingdom of God is the one who
humbles himself and behave like a child….” Jesus had a reason for saying this
because children always behave in the most simple and clear way. They are disciplined.
Let take an example of a two year old child. Such a
child cannot quarrel with a friend, cannot steal, fight with another child and
so on.
Such a child
is also learning to speak as well as being socialized, this means those who
live with this baby have a responsibility to nurture him in the way they wish.
Every one would expect the best from such a child.
Father, mother, brothers and sisters, friends, neighbors and so on. Indeed, I
too would expect the best from this child.
South Sudan has betrayed us. At the age of two, it
is behaving as like a 50yrs old man. After the burial of Mandela last Sunday,
army royal to former Vice President Riek Machar staged a coup detat to overthrow
current president Kiir. The coup failed and Machar men have started what I would
simply define as a rebellion. Many analysts believe that it could spread into a
civil war.
A two year old child cannot have disagreement at
all. Where did Kiir’s disagreement with Machar originate from?. To answer this
question would be like asking me to solve a mathematical problem with x and y. May
be because they come from different ethnic groups.
A child who a kingdom of God belongs to does not
steal as the commandment says, “Do not still,” for us elders we can steal
because we are greedy and corrupt. Can you believe that South Sudan is doing
well in the league of corruption?. Transparency International ranked it 173 out
177 as per latest rankings released on 4th this month. Yes, they are
at least fame in this competition.
For a child such South Sudan whose mother “John
Garang” I would say took more than two decade to deliver with all pain the
family members went through, more worse the demise of the mother shortly after
delivery leaving an orphan need maximum attention. We all need to pray for this
nation and if possible offer help. We
can bring together antagonistic groups to a round table for negotiation, this
is so easy when dealing with a child. Military assistance is also a necessity
and well as food supply to refugees.
Uganda and America
have sent troops and Kenya is too about to send troop to evacuate their
citizens. This is not what our child need, these old foreigners can protect
themselves so let us think about protecting Southern Sudanese.
We are aware that Ugandan troop can protect this
child but they can easily steal his belongings. Loud noise is also coming out
that Kenyan Defence Forces cannot be trusted with valuable property. Let us
pray that this does not happen.
It is one of easiest thing to sooth a child when he
cries. You can for example purchase a toy for him, breast feed him and so on other
battering him when he misbehaves. Together we can soothe S. Sudan at this
moment when it is crying.
The child can still fulfill our expectations. Let us
remain optimistic, everything will return to normality. Yes we can nurture
South Sudan into a responsible state other than leaving it to die at this
moment.
